The Social Brain

Carinna Torgerson Laboratory of Neuro Imaging, UCLA
The evolution of the human brain has been driven by social interaction, learning, and personal relationships giving rise to intelligence and other forms of cognitive ability. Most recently, social media has revamped the manner in which we communicate and share information with each other. From visual employments such as Instagram and YouTube, to auditory applications like Soundcloud and Pandora, or communication hubs like Facebook and RenRen, the way in which the brain experiences the world is being revolutionized by the world of social media. This image illustrates the ubiquity of social media websites by presenting icons from a variety of cultures and modalities.
