Blooming Brain

Josefina Maranzano
McGill University
Flower constructed using modified MRI images of my brain. In the center there is my self-portrait repeated within each other ending in the lateral view of the image of my brain. I use acrylic paint and acrylic medium for image transfer.
Brain imaging research made my visual art side and skills explode. This work represents the fusion of my two life passions: science and art. My professional life has been duplicated since I moved from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere more than ten years ago. I work as a research associate at the McConnell Brain Imaging Center of the Montreal Neurological Institute (Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, McGill University). I also have a successful visual artist career here in Montreal.
