Anatomical segregation and functional segregation

Xiaopeng Song Peking University
Inextricable relationship between structure and function is a fundamental rule of brain evolution and development. We examined this rule, by showing that anatomically segregated brain regions were also frequency-specific and hence functionally segregated. Group-mean and standard errors of frequency for different AAL areas are ordered from AAL1 to AAL90 (upper panel) and grouped by the brain lobes (lower panel, colored boxes) they are located in. Each AAL area is coded with a specific color.
