Circuits of the Brain

The image shows white matter fiber tracts estimated from an MRI scan of a human brain. The MRI scanner acquires hundreds of images showing the diffusion of water molecules through the brain, and from those an algorithm computes estimates of fiber tracts. Shown are only a small fraction of possible tracts that can be computed, and crossing fibers are not considered for aesthetical reasons.
